Your Roadmap

As we enter the journey of life, often when we leave home for college - our first big choice - we encounter many different pathways. Some are well paved, some are rocky, and others lead to a fork in the road.
And guess what — no map. What do we do?

1. Change (Embrace it.)
Who knew that such a simple word could stir up so much uncertainty, fear and excitement? But change itself is not the issue - the real issue is everything that leads up to it.

Change allows us to expand our minds, our thinking and our world. Every experience gives us an opportunity to explore a part of ourselves that has been either underutilized or completely hidden.

It’s amazing that some people go through what most would consider great tragedy and not only heal but emerge as more powerful beings.

How is this possible? Because we choose that pathway.

There is a story about a man who dreams of two wolves. One is angry and bitter and the other is happy and hopeful. He asks, “Which is the stronger of the two wolves?” The answer is, “The one you feed.” Let’s embrace change.

2. Balance (Achieve it.)
Do this right now: take a deep breath, hold it for four counts and exhale for six…

You are balanced, refreshed and renewed. You are in the present moment.

Something we do unconsciously is the key to achieving balance: breathe.

3. Conscious Living (Do it.)
Living consciously allows for deeper awareness of all that is happening within and around us. Life can be so busy – especially in New York City. Everyone is in a hurry. We wake up, get ready for work, commute to the office, do our jobs and return home to rest and start again the next day. It’s funny that one of the most common sayings is, “Thank God it’s Friday.” They even named a restaurant in homage to it.

As we bring awareness to our daily lives, time slows down. We become more observant of ourselves and how we are living. Are circumstances in charge of us or are we in charge or our circumstances?

Well, it’s a little of both. Circumstances will happen, however, we are in charge of our reactions to each and every circumstance. Are you living consciously?

This is your roadmap: embrace change, be in balance and live consciously.
