My own pathway into wellness began as I was making a big life transition. I walked away from the corporate world to take a chance on my own freelance graphic design business. The result was much more than starting a business.
It was a lifestyle change.

Pathway Into Wellness CalloutI began to gravitate toward people and events that connected with my spirit. As I built my business, I also had to stay healthy because I could not afford health insurance.

Being the youngest of 10 affected me, too. Heart disease and strokes are prevalent in my family and some of my siblings started to develop high blood pressure. I breathed a sigh of relief whenever my doctor told me mine was normal. But I really wanted to keep any preventable ailment from taking over my body, my life.

I began to view my health more proactively. I sought doctors who were more
concerned about preventive care vs. reactive care. I attended health expos and read articles and books on healthful lifestyles. As I became more mindful of my body, mind and spirit, I began to create a new life that included well-balanced meals, yoga and meditation. Healthy relationships were also key. Whether it was a boss, a spouse, a friend, a pet, or, most importantly, myself, I saw that I couldn’t really be there for others until I was truly there for myself.

My world began to open up. I started to meet two kinds of people: those who were on a similar path and those who wanted to be. Some of them would ask me where I found my energy and what I did to stay healthy. I would tell them how the energetics of food influenced how good my day was. If I began my day with a meal that included fresh fruit, vegetables and other whole ingredients, I would feel more grounded. My day and what I ate was more on purpose. Then, and now, I truly am what I eat.

The pathway into wellness - for myself and my clients - is to achieve a renewed and healthy experience on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
